A drunk driving arrest can impact your life far beyond a potential criminal record. Just ask Spokane police officer Mike Russo, who was arrested for a DUI on Saturday night and has been placed on administrative by his employer, reports KXLY.
Russo was involved in a single car crash in North Spokane on Saturday. By the time the Spokane police arrived at the scene, the Washington State Patrol had already placed Russo under arrest for a suspected DUI. Russo was not on duty at the time; however, that did not stop the Spokane police department from starting an internal administrative investigation and placing Russo on leave.
The Washington State Patrol is also investigating the incident which could potentially lead to criminal charges.

This story out of Spokane highlights the serious repercussions that may arise out of a DUI arrest. You probably already know that a drunk driving can lead to monetary fines, requirement to install an ignition interlock device, and mandatory jail time. However, you may not have considered the impact a DUI conviction can have on your career. This is especially true if your career depends upon driving or worse yet- withholding the law.
You should know that being arrested or charged with drunk driving does not equate to guilt. Prosecutors still bear the burden of proving your guilt.
