NJ Man Demonstrates What Not To Do Following DUI

Posted by Aaron J. Wolff | Mar 29, 2014 | 0 Comments

A 26-year-old New Jersey man was arrested for drunk driving and then proceeded to demonstrate everything you should not do following a DUI arrest including fighting with officers and attempting to urinate on an officer.

Last Tuesday, John Sassaman allegedly drove drunk and crashed into a tree in Mahwah, New Jersey, reports NJ.com. Police say he then fled the scene and drove to his girlfriend's home where authorities found his car. When police questioned the couple, Sassaman's girlfriend attempted to take the blame by telling the officers that she lost control of the car. However, she later admitted to the police that it was in fact Sassaman who lost control of the car and crashed into a tree.

Sassaman failed a field sobriety test and was taken to jail. During custody, Sassaman reportedly became very combative with police and is alleged to have kicked one officer. He was subdued by the cops and after being taken to his cell, Sassaman allegedly urinated on his cell floor before attempting to urinate on an officer. He also allegedly spit in the direction of the officers.

The New Jersey man was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, along with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident. His girlfriend was also charged with lying to police.
