Man Drives Drunk To Police Station To Report Accident

Posted by Aaron J. Wolff | Jun 14, 2014 | 0 Comments

A Louisiana man was involved in a hit-and-run accident and did the smart thing and reported it to the police. Unfortunately, when Patrick Ruffner drove to the police station and reported the accident, the officer who was prepared to complete the accident report instead suspected that the 31-year-old was drunk, reports The Washington Post.

During the early hours of Sunday morning, Ruffner was apparently involved in an accident in the college town of Baton Rouge. Ruffner called the cops and told them about the accident. The officer told Ruffner to come into the station and complete the accident report, which Ruffner dutifully did,

Ruffner was apparently still drunk enough by the time that he arrived at the station that the officer had the young man undergo several field sobriety tests, which Ruffner failed. Ruffner was then arrested for drunk driving and he later admitted to police that he had been drinking shortly before the car accident. To top Ruffner's list of errors, the police also discovered that he was driving on a suspended license at the time.
