Every DUI case is Different

Posted by Aaron J. Wolff | Apr 08, 2012 | 0 Comments

Having practiced Seattle DUI defense for over a decade, I have been asked countless times the following: "My friend had a DUI and got this result, why can't I get the same result on my DUI case?" The answer is always the same...... Each DUI case is unique.

The truth of the matter is that each DUI case is different. There are no two DUI cases that are the same. Whether it is basis for the officer pulling a person over, to the person's performance on field tests, to the resultsof the breath or blood test, each DUI arrest is distinct. In addition, where the DUI charge is filed bears great importance. There are some prosecutors who are notoriously very tough with DUI cases (even on first offenses) while others may be more lenient. A Bellevue DUI arrest needs to be handled differently than a Kirkland or Seattle DUI charge .

As a Washington State DUI attorney, my ultimate goal is to get the best possible outcome for each of my client's cases. Whether it is a dismissal of the DUI charge, or getting the DUI reduced to Reckless Driving or Negligent Driving, with relentless work and pushing the case forward, I am usually able to achieve a result my client is quite satisfied with. Sometimes the DUI charge can be resolved within two or three court appearances and other times it takes several months.

I fully appreciate how frightening an arrest for DUI is on an individual. And as an experienced Seattle DUI attorney, I have handled cases throughout Washington State. Whenever I meet with a person for the initial consultation, after I have a better understanding of the background of the person and the facts of the case, I can usually give a person a perspective as to what to expect with their DUI charge. I can never make any guarantees, but I can ususally give a ball park estimation as what to expect.

After an arrest for DUI, it is common for a person to talk with friends or acquaintances who may have also had a DUI in their past. It is certainly helpful to gain perspective as to the process and to understand that they will get through it, it is not good to establish expectations as to how their case might be ultimately resolved. Only an experienced DUI attorney should provide that type of input.

At Wolff Criminal Defense, we will happily meet with anyone accused of a Seattle area DUI for a free initial consultation. After we have a better understandinf of the person's background and facts of the case, we can give them our experienced opinion as to what to expect with their DUI charge. The attorneys can be reached directly 7 days a week at 425-284-2000.
