An unidentified Edmonds man said to be responsible for two car crashes earlier this week is believed to have been either drunk or high, authorities say.
Edmonds police had received a call regarding a two-car collision early Wednesday evening. But as the police responded to the scene, one of the drivers allegedly fled, reports the Herald Net.
During the investigation of the crash, authorities received another call of a second accident involving the same car. The second accident happened close by and the vehicle matching the description of the car that fled had reportedly crashed into a yard and rolled over.
The driver, a 40-year-old Edmonds man, suffered injuries in the accident and was taken to a Seattle hospital. Fortunately, no one else was injured in the accidents. Police say that multiple charges are pending against the driver.
Along with a drunk driving charge, the driver could also faces charges of a hit-and-run and could be held responsible for any property damage he caused. In addition, the facts of the arrest and the apparent attempt to flee could make it difficult for the driver to receive a favorable plea deal or avoid the most serious criminal penalties including jail time.
Drunk driving is a serious offense in Washington state. And depending upon the circumstances of the arrest, an alleged drunk driver could face additional criminal penalties adding more jail time and steeper monetary fines.
