Impaired Driver Strikes Seattle Police Car

Posted by Aaron J. Wolff | May 20, 2013 | 0 Comments

An individual's judgment is impaired when drunk. And this appeared to be the case in North Seattle over the weekend when an alleged drunk driver lost control of her car and struck a Seattle police car, reports KOMO NewsKOMO News.

The accident occurred on 3rd Avenue Northwest early Sunday morning. An officer was driving a fully marked police vehicle when another car reportedly cut across and collided with the police car.

To make matters worse, the female driver did not stop. Instead, she allegedly tried to flee the scene. She was soon apprehended and taken into custody. The driver was charged with suspicion of driving under the influence. It was not reported if she faces hit-and-run charges, but it appears that these charges will likely follow.

Driving under the influence is a very serious charge under normal circumstances. However, when you attempt to flee the scene following a hit-and-run, you could face criminal charges for that act as well as liability for any injury or property damage caused.

In these cases, you will want to work with an experienced drunk driving defense attorney.

Drivers accused of driving under the influence have a hard time getting fair treatment given that they are typically up against hardened prosecutors and police officers. In addition, the current climate in Washington State is very negative towards suspected drunk drivers following several high-profile incidents. As a result, even a jury of your peers may be biased against you.

An experienced DUI attorney can help even the odds and defend your rights. Remember, in our legal systems, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Your DUI lawyer will act as you biggest advocate throughout the DUI processprocess.
