In one of the stranger DUI stories you'll probably hear this year, a Pennsylvania school bus driver was apparently so drunk that she confused her morning school bus route with her afternoon route. After driver Jennifer Watson loaded up her students at the school in the afternoon, she proceeded to drive them around and then back to school to unload the children as if it were the morning, reports the Associated Press.
And that was not even the strangest part of the story.
The police and her boss at the Benton Area School District in Columbia County, Pennsylvania were waiting for Watson to arrive back at school. After authorities had Watson in custody, she told them that she was not drinking. However, she did acknowledge that she had eaten gin-soaked raisins prior to driving. Gin-soaked raisins! She reportedly eats these alcoholic snacks to deal with headaches.
You do not need to actually drink alcohol to be arrested for drunk driving. Any means of intoxication including drinking liquor or eating liquor-soaked snacks can lead to an arrest. In her case, Watson was charged with drunk driving and reckless driving. She also likely faces disciplinary actions at work and could lose her job. Students aboard the bus told authorities that Watson was yelling, cursing and swerving as she took them back to school.
