Driver Too Drunk for Sobriety Tests

Posted by Aaron J. Wolff | May 31, 2014 | 0 Comments

North Carolina police officers responded to a call of a chain-reaction car accident early Tuesday morning. But when they arrived at the scene, the police officers did not find anyone around the cars, reports the Newton Citizen.

As the police searched the abandoned the cars to find the identities of those involved, they observed a man staggering around the middle of the street. The police asked the 29-year-old what he was doing and the man responded that he had done "something really bad" and caused an accident.

Suspecting that the man was drunk the cops attempted to administer a variety of field sobriety tests. However, after attempting the tests, the man gave up and said that he was "too drunk to do it." The man was promptly arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, and failing to report an accident.

Contact a Seattle DUI Attorney

You should know that being asked to submit to a field sobriety test and even failing a field sobriety test does not automatically mean that you will be convicted of a DUI. There are many reasons why someone may fail a field sobriety test and your attorney can help work on your defense after examining your case. However, if you fail to complete a test and admit to an officer that you are "too drunk" to take one, you may be giving prosecutors more reasons to charge you.

To learn more about your DUI charge and your options if you are arrested, you should contact a Seattle DUI attorney at Wolff Criminal Defense at 425-284-2000.
