656 Arrested in King County During Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign

Posted by Aaron J. Wolff | Jan 17, 2014 | 0 Comments

Law enforcement personnel in King County arrested 656 drivers for driving under the influence during the state-wide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign, reports the Kent Reporter.

The campaign spanned from the Thanksgiving to New Year's holidays -- a peak time for drunk driving. As part of the campaign, Washington State Patrol and local enforcement agencies teamed up to stop drunk driving. This included assigning more patrol officers to drunk driving detail and making a concentrated effort at spots known for drunk driving. Statewide, 2,723 drivers were arrested for driving under the influence.

The 656 arrests in King County show a marked improvement from the previous year. In 2012, 795 people were arrested for driving under the influence in the county. Along with the Washington State Patrol, local law enforcement agencies that participated in the campaign included the Auburn, Bellevue, Issaquah, Kent, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Lake Forrest, Redmond, and Seattle police departments. The goal of law enforcement personnel through actions like the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign is to end drunk driving completely by 2030.

Contact a King County DUI Defense Attorney If You Have Been Arrested

Drivers arrested for drunk driving should know that an arrest does not equal guilt. Instead, prosecutors bear the burden of proving beyond reasonable doubt that you were in fact intoxicated.

By contacting an experienced King County drunk driving defense attorney, you can learn your options and possible defenses to a drunk driving charge. You will need an advocate on your side as the criminal justice system can be unfair and biased against suspected drivers.  DUI attorneys Aaron Wolff and Christopher Kattenhorn regularly appear in King County District Court, as well as the municipal courts of Seattle, BellevueKirkland and Redmond.
