3 DUI Arrests At Same Location in 2 Hours

Posted by Aaron J. Wolff | May 16, 2013 | 0 Comments

In Washington state, law enforcement and state troopers are not allowed to set up DUI checkpoints as mandated by state Supreme Court in the case of Seattle v. Mesiani.

However, in a bizarre turn of events, that did not stop Washington State Troopers from making three separate drunk driving arrests at the same location in under two hours, reports Q13 Fox.

The incidents happened over the past weekend as troopers were investigating a hit-and-run and tried to stop a speeding driver at about 2 a.m. on Saturday morning. That driver crashed his car and he was arrested for eluding police and driving under the influence.

As the troopers were processing the arrest, they had to jump out of the way as another driver sped down the same stretch of road. That driver, a 25-year-old woman, was also arrested for a DUI.

When the troopers continued to investigate the initial hit-and-run, a separate driver was rear-ended at a nearby stoplight by a truck. The driver of the truck then tried to flee the scene which caused the troopers to give chase. Less than a mile into the chase, the hood of the truck popped up and blinded the driver causing him to drive into a ditch. The man then tried to flee on foot where he was apprehended. His blood alcohol level was allegedly twice the legal limit.

The area where the arrests took place was only identified as being near Fairgrounds and Central Valley roads.

The DUI suspects will now need legal counsel to help them defend the charges. The current climate in the Seattle area is against DUI suspects. So someone facing a drunk driving charge will need an experienced advocate who can represent his or her rights.
